Foundation for History and Heritage Studies was established by the Founder-Director of the organization Rajib Sarma in 2007 as a non-profit making research organization, reference library and archive with his solitary effort. Though he established the organization in 2007, he started the initiative of collecting rare / valuable books, journals, documents, ancient handwritten manuscripts, maps, etc. since more than two decades.

“Foundation for History and Heritage Studies” has been registered as a charitable trust under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 and is open to general public. The reference library and archive of the organization has a sizable number of hard copies and digitized versions of rare / valuable books, journals, documents, ancient handwritten manuscripts, maps, etc. in the collection.

The Foundation has been created as a common & open research platform, reference library and archive for Scholars, Students, Journalists and curious Public who wants to collaborate, participate, contribute.

The primary vision, mission and objective of the organization is to promote exploratory study, research, documentation, research compilation, publication, translation, conservation / preservation activities related to Religious Studies, Religious Philosophy, Studies in Hindu / Buddhist / Jain Tantra, Shakta Tantra, Kulachara Tantra Marga (tradition), Ritual Practices, Applied Ritual References, Religious Tradition, Comparative Religion, History, Anthropology, Archaeology & Temple Landscapes, Linguistics, Art & Culture, Ancient Manuscripts & Documents etc.

The organization has also established the “Centre for Tantra Studies” as an interdisciplinary research centre with the primary aim and objective to brings together both scholars and practitioners of the various Schools & Sects of Tantra for exploratory, analytical, critical, constructive and in-depth research, documentation and interactions on the subject and its related aspects.

The Foundation is maintaining the websites “www.kamakhya.org”, “www.kamakhyatantra.org”, www.kamrupkamakhya.org”

The reference library of the Foundation contains 25000+ hard copies and 15000+ soft copies of rare books, monographs, journals, documents, manuscripts, maps, etc.

The archive of the Foundation contains 150+ ancient handwritten manuscripts, documents, copper plates on Ritual Practice, Tantra, Religious Philosophy, Applied Ritual References, etc.

The Foundation is also undertaking the digitization of hard copies of the rare published materials and ancient handwritten manuscripts, documents, etc. in possession and building up a searchable database for its websites with a cataloged and indexed list of the materials along with a synopsis of each title.

The Foundation has published 3 books on the Kamakhya Temples’ Complex & Kamarupa in Assamese, Bengali, Hindi and publication of the English version of this book is in progress.

The Foundation has created a research-based documentary feature film titled “WHO IS BAUL” in collaboration with Archive of Indian Music, Bangalore, India and Mr. Ricky Kej (Two times Grammy-Award winning Musician). The feature film has been released on YouTube.
